Flake wasn’t sure what he thought of the boy. (Come to think of it, he didn’t even know his name.) At first he came off as scared and helpless, then he seemed playful and talkative, and when he met Rose, then he just seemed really weird. He would just stare at her, speechless, then would erupt and start babbling random things like, “I thought you were dead,” and “did you remember when you ate Stripes’s cat food” and “so much stuff happened while you were gone” and other things that Flake couldn’t really make sense of. And from what he could tell, Rose didn’t either.

Chapter Forty-Seven: In Which Paths Converge
It was night, and Flake was wide awake, in a room at the Coral Palace. It had been a day since the meeting with Chief Ripple, and he couldn’t help but think about the Cave Kingdom, and how to get in. He was so lost in thought, when someone knocked on the door, he barely registered it. It was when that someone started banging on the door in which he got up from his bed and ran to open the door. Chapter Forty-Six: In Which Jack Decides What To Do
“So, why are you here?” The nice woman named Violet looked at Jack. “It doesn’t seem like you’re from here.” Jack was sitting on a stump in a log cabin in a village in the forest, very much a fish out of water. And he had so much to say, so much questions. He wanted to tell Spruce and Violet everything that had been happening to him, but he wasn’t sure how the news would be treated. Would they be scared? Shocked? Happy? Surprised? Would they help him? Chapter Forty-Four: In Which A Book Turns Out To Be More Than A Book And A Room More Than A Room
Jack wasn’t sure why he was heading to the game room. It was like he was trying to act like nothing happened, like everything was going to be okay, when it obviously wasn’t. But what could he do? Rush back to save Snow and Flint and Windy? To what end? They were still stuck in the caves. Maybe he should try to find a way out? But if there was one, how would he have not been able to find it all this time? Chapter Forty-Two: In Which Memories Resurface
Six years ago… “Rosie, we aren’t going to actually do that, are we?” Jack asked, a bit fearful. When Rosie wanted to do something, she did it, and Jack really didn’t want her to do this. Rosie answered in sign language. Yes, we are. 5/31/2017 0 Comments Forty and Forty-OneChapter Forty: In Which A Plan Fails Rather Miserably
Jack knew something was going to go wrong when he saw the knives. They were sitting on the table near the door, just waiting to cut flesh along with other odd looking utensils on the same table. There were needles and cylindrical contraptions and glinting pieces of metal twisted odd ways. Each had a pointy end on one side. If inanimate objects could look menacing, these certainly did. Chapter Thirty-Eight: In Which Jack And Windy Sneak Into A Laboratory
“Windy, wait!” She was just about to turn the corner when she heard Jack call. “What?” she asked. “I think I have something that might help with our investigation.” Jack reached into his pant pocket. “Here it is.” Chapter Thirty-Six: In Which Flake Attempts To Figure Things Out With No Luck
The door wouldn’t open. The window wouldn’t open. As much as Flake shouted and knocked on the door, no one came in the room. The more he became convinced that he was probably kidnapped. If so, how did he get out? Chapter Thirty-Four: In Which Windy Takes Action
If Windy didn’t happen to be in the game room, the future would probably be very different. A lot of different things might have happened. But what is important is that she did happen to be in the game room, as it just so happened that the game room did not have a door. Which meant that Windy wasn’t locked in any room. So, seeing in the TV that something was happening to Snow, she wanted to see for herself and possibly save the day. If possible. Chapter Thirty-Two: In Which Flake Sees Some Alarming Things
Flake woke up. But he didn’t. He was awake. Conscious. But he could tell he was in a dream. He was strapped to a chair. Lights were glaring down at him, he couldn’t really see much else. |
