Our small cottage could hold one small bed, big enough for only one person. Before my father grew ill, we used to take turns. Now my mother and I formed a silent agreement that we would sleep on the floors until he got better. If he got better.
“Elliot?” he whispered when I entered the bedroom. “I don’t see why I came to the outskirts of town instead of my uncle’s tower,” Teagan huffed. “And yet, you’re here,” I pointed out unnecessarily. “So, how did you know my uncle was hiding something?” she asked. “It was… I don’t know, just the way he fidgeted. There was something off about him.” “That’s… not evidence. Okay, look, what do we know for sure?” Her eyes glistened with unshed tears. For a brief second, I felt her pain. Then my thoughts drifted to my dad. I can’t imagine a world without him, without seeing his smile or hearing his laughter. It would all be gone if I didn’t do something.
“Teagan,” I slowly said. I sat there dazed, wondering how many times I would meet Teagan under unexpected circumstances. It was astonishing how our paths kept crossing.
From behind the bush, I could see Teagan dismounting her horse and moving towards a grave. It was on the richer, more wealthy side of the cemetery, where the councilmen and their families and such were buried. I swung my sack around as I strolled through the roads. The miller and his huge storage house were located in the town square, amongst the well-known shops just bustling with villagers. Already there was quite a crowd… more than I thought there would be. I was earlier than normal today, coming directly from the courthouse, and apparently, everyone else was to… His face was swelled with a terrifying, eggplant purple color. “S-sir,” the sandy-haired boy stuttered.
Farmer Kalor turned his attention from me to him and gruffly said, “Well? What is it?” “This boy was trespassing, I caught him,” he said. I was tempted to retort that he was sleeping on the job, but it wouldn’t really make much of a difference. I would just be getting him into trouble, and what good would it do for either of us? 3/6/2018 1 Comment Chapter One: Thievery & Cows The colors of the evening sky lit up the dark valley where the small city outskirt villages slept and the vast farmland stretched to the horizon. It was a tiny but nice place, where houses were tucked under the rolling hills and endless farmland. Beneath the peace that seemingly cast a layer of mist over the village, was an unrest that stretched throughout the land.

They portrayed the Glacier Kingdom chief to be bold, brave, heroic, and maybe there were some magical powers mixed in. He was the one who surrendered, in the end. |
